Clinic-born Dermatology 3-Step Care for Beautiful Skin

The Korean skincare routine is three steps: Prepare, Soothe, Protect. Dr.G built that sequence inside a Seoul dermatology clinic, and it runs in that order because clearing the surface lets the next layer reach the skin, calming it keeps the barrier comfortable, and a mineral sunscreen holds the result through the day. Two of the three steps run morning and evening, one runs once or twice a week, and the whole thing takes about two minutes. Keep it for a month before you add anything else, so you can tell which step your skin is responding to.

The Korean skincare routine in three steps
The Korean skincare routine has three steps, and they come after cleansing: Prepare lifts dead cells, Soothe calms and hydrates, Protect shields with a mineral filter. Dr.G teaches the sequence as P.S.P, or Gak-Bo-Ja (각·보·자), the order its dermatologists work in at the clinic.
Korean skincare was never a fixed ten-step formula. Sarah Chung Park, the K-beauty expert, told Vogue it is a layering habit that runs from three products to fifteen, depending on what your skin is doing that day. Dermatologist Alok Vij, of the Cleveland Clinic, makes the case for the short version: give someone ten steps and they will reliably do two or three. Consistency is the part that has been measured. In an investigator-blinded randomised trial, people who used a mild cleanser plus a moisturizer twice daily improved significantly more on clinical dryness scores over two weeks than people who used the cleanser alone [1].
Why the order holds:
- Prepare first: a cleared surface lets the cream that follows reach the skin instead of sitting on it.
- Soothe second: a comfortable, hydrated barrier is what the rest of the routine is built on.
- Protect last: the sunscreen film works as the top layer, so nothing goes over it.

Step 1: Prepare
Prepare means lifting dead cells before anything else goes on. The Brightening Peeling Gel is the Dr.G product for it: a non-acidic, cotton-cellulose gel you massage over damp skin for about a minute, until it balls up and rinses away. Once or twice a week is enough.
Dr.G formulates the Brightening Peeling Gel without acids, which is why reactive skin can exfoliate weekly: the action is mechanical and takes under a minute at the basin. The brand's shorthand for it is scrub without scratch. Skin reads smoother to the hand straight away, and the cream that follows spreads evenly.

Skin feels smoother to the touch, also after one use.
Water held even once the gel is rinsed off.

Step 2: Soothe
Soothe is the step you repeat twice a day, every day. The R.E.D Blemish Clear Soothing Cream is a translucent cooling gel-cream built on the 10 Cica Complex, ten complementary soothing actives led by cica, and it is what keeps the barrier comfortable between the weekly exfoliation and the daily sun.
Press it in while skin is still damp rather than fully dried, which is what the Korean three-second rule is really about: humectants bind the water already on the surface, so a cream applied to a damp face has more to hold on to. It lands cool and sinks fast, which is why it works as well under sunscreen in the morning as it does as the last layer at night. Dr.G built the formula around cica to bring visible redness down.

Step 3: Protect
Protect closes the morning. Green Mild Up Sun+ SPF50+ PA++++ is Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ with a 100% pure mineral UV filter, zinc oxide paired with Ectoin D, and it is clinically proven mild, even for sensitive skin. It goes on over the soothing cream, as the last layer of the routine.
PA++++ is the top UVA rating on the Korean scale, printed alongside the US Broad Spectrum marking on the same tube. Dr.G shields daily exposure with a formula run through seven sensitive-skin tests, from a pediatric test to a post-procedure test, and the finish is matte rather than tacky.
How to use
- When: every morning, as the last step, after the soothing cream.
- How: an even layer over face, neck and ears, pressed in rather than rubbed.
- Where: anywhere daylight reaches, indoor days included.
05.
How to adapt it to your skin type
The three steps stay the same whatever your skin type. What changes is how often you prepare and how much you layer on the soothing step. The Dr.G routine was designed around skin that reacts, which is why the gel is non-acidic, the cream is cica-based and the sun care is 100% mineral.
| Dry skin | Prepare once a week, and press the R.E.D Blemish Clear Soothing Cream in while skin is still damp, morning and night. |
|---|---|
| Oily or combination skin | The gel-cream texture is light enough to be the only moisturizer you need, and twice-weekly preparation suits an oilier surface. |
| Sensitive or reactive skin | Hold the three steps for a month before adding anything, and let the cooling cream do the work on days your face runs hot. |
| Acne-prone skin | A non-acidic exfoliation once a week, the gel-cream morning and evening, and the mineral sun care daily. |
| A week when skin stings | Stay on Soothe and Protect, and pick Prepare back up once skin has settled. |
